Los centros españoles IES Sánchez Cantón de Pontevedra y IES Sierra Sur de Osuna realizaron una videoconferencia con Alton Convent School de Gran Bretaña (más información). La alumna Lauren Shea, ganadora de varios premios vinculados a la realización de proyectos STEM contó sus experiencias en proyectos STEM y aconsejó a los alumnos españoles cómo afrontar sus proyectos en KIKS.
A raíz del contacto por la videoconferencia la profesora Fiona Hopkinson, colaboradora en el TeenTech, invitó al IES Sánchez Cantón a participar en los prestigiosos premios TeenTech británicos. Los premios TeenTech se conceden a colegios británicos, conllevan una amplia difusión en los medios y representan un premio prestigioso para los galardonados. La selección es rigurosa y se realiza en la Royal Society, entregando los premios el HRH Duke of York KG at Buckingham Palace.
El invitar al IES Sánchez Cantón a participar en TeenTech representaba abrir los premios a colegios no británicos. El IES Sánchez Cantón recogió el reto, inscribiendo a tres equipos. Uno de los equipos está formado por tres alumnas de las cuatro que realizaron la actividad “Arches in our city”, con un proyecto que se basa en el diseño de farolas alimentadas con energía solar. La organización de TenTech seleccionó un máximo de tres proyectos por categoría para que expusiesen sus trabajos en la Royal Society el 26 de junio, entre los que se encuentra el desarrollado por las alumnas participantes en KIKS.
De esa forma, una colaboración internacional en el seno del proyecto KIKS ha tenido una repercusión considerable en un ámbito que trasciende los objetivos de KIKS. De ese modo, la colaboración internacional que ha motivado KIKS va más allá de una actividad STEM desarrollada por un grupo de alumnos de diferentes países, pues todo aquello vinculado a unos premios de la categoría e importancia de TeenTech representa una colaboración internacional que implica multitud de profesores, alumnos, instituciones, empresas y actividades que vinculan todo ello de formas diversas.

The Spanish schools IES Sánchez Cantón from Pontevedra and IES Sierra Sur from Osuna held a videoconference with Alton Convent School of Great Britain (more information). La alumna Lauren Shea, winner of several prizes linked to the realization of STEM projects, shared her experiences in STEM projects and advised Spanish students how to tackle their projects in KIKS.
Following the contact by videoconference teacher Fiona Hopkinson, a TeenTech collaborator, invited IES Sánchez Cantón to participate in the prestigious British TeenTech Awards. The TeenTech Awards are awarded to British colleges, are widely publicized in the media and represent a prestigious award for the award-winners. The selection is rigorous and it is realized in the Royal Society, delivering the prizes HRH Duke of York KG at Buckingham Palace.
Inviting IES Sánchez Cantón to participate in TeenTech represented opening prizes to non-British schools. IES Sánchez Cantón collected the challenge, registering three teams. One of the teams is made up of three students from the four who performed the activity «Arches in our city», with a project that is based on the design of solar powered lamps. The TenTech organization selected a maximum of three projects per category to exhibit their work at the Royal Society on June 26, including the one developed by the students participating in KIKS.
In this way, an international collaboration within the KIKS project has had a considerable impact in an area that transcends KIKS objectives. In this way, the international collaboration that has motivated KIKS goes beyond a STEM activity developed by a group of students from different countries, since everything related to awards of the category and importance of TeenTech represents an international collaboration that implies a multitude of Teachers, students, institutions, companies and activities that link all this in different ways.
